Fan News: Scared Stiffs

On March 28, 2008 (Site News: It’s The Hot Rods!) we added Hot Rods Of The Gods, an adventure book from West End Games. With other game books available here and at GB Fans we figured this was the end of the Ghostbusters hobby for a long time to come.

Less then a month later, I saw that AJ Quick, webmaster of Ghostbusters Fans added the out of print Scared Stiffs to his site. The hobby of ghostbusting is one step closer to completion.

Video Game News: “The Video Game” Insert Box

Ghosthead Dustin submitted pictures of dummy promo inserts to Proton Charging. This one came from Dustin’s local Game Stop. There’s a pretty good chance these are or will be appearing in video game stores at least nation wide.

We can presume this is what the official covers will look like. If you were in charge of game box design, what would you come up with? It’s all for fun, if you would like to submit ideas and better yet, art work, please post at our forums.

Along the same lines Ben King began a thread at GBHQ for what the disc art for Ghostbusters™: The Video Game will look like. We really like his concept of the flashing cyclotron. Their can be other ideas, lets see them!

Studio News: Ghostbusters Release Date

On the heels of the studio Ecto-1 on a promotional corporate tour word is that Sony and Vivendi are looking to release both Ghostbusters™: The Video Game and Ghostbusters on Blu-Ray on October 21, 2008.

Could this be the official announcement at San Diego Comic Con regarding the film franchise? Or in addition will the announcement be something else Ghostbusters fans have been waiting for?

Summer can’t come soon enough.

Studio News: ECTO-1 Is On The Road Again

Believe it or not (unless you’ve known Sony did have both ‘59 MMs in the shop for restoration) the Ecto-1 used for filming is on the road again after years of sitting on studio property. Ghostheads had wondered for months why Sony was putting a lot of money into the historic cars. The studio Ecto-1 will be used for promotional purposes (so far corporate) in US cities throughout for at least the next 6 months. No word yet about studio Ecto-1A which may still be in the restoration shop. And mo official touring schedule has been released at this time either.

AJ Quick, webmaster of GB Fans was at its first stop, corporate headquarters for Best Buy in Minnesota. Where he took nearly 300 pictures of the restored Ecto-1. The next stop was Vivendi HQ in Texas on April 18.

Who knows where studio Ecto-1 will be next. There is a 100% chance it will be in San Diego for the San Diego Comic Con the weekend of July 24-27, 2008. While its not officially announced GB Fans is reporting that Vivendi is trying to get Dan Aykoyd and Harold Ramis to appear. I’m sure if asked and Ernie Hudson was available he would attend also.

Convention News: AdventureCon (Knoxville, TN)

I’ve been meaning to report this cool, yet late to the party in reporting it news update.

Knoxville, TN is home to our current Tennessee franchise, AdventureCon, and nearby is Paul Francis, owner of the former Universal Studios (FL) ECTO-1. The weekend of June 13-15, 2008 ECTO-1 will be on display at AC. If that sounds good, it gets better. Ernie Hudson will be a special guest and will be posing with the former Universal Studios ECTO-1.

Because of all this Ghostbusters goodness, a ghosthead gathering is scheduled to take place. As more details come together, they’ll be posted here too. I may have to know said details as there is a small chance Corporate and Ghostbusters-NJ will be in attendance.

ConEvention News: Ecto-Con (New York City)

Dr. Dimitrios Haritos from our Real Long Island Ghostbusters has begun to get the ball rolling on a possible Ghostbusters Convention. Excluding the Big Apple Franchise Gathering, this may be the closest thing Ghostbusters fans ever get to an official GB Con.

After speaking with Ernie Hudson recently at I-Con 27 and the people who run the Big Apple Con, there is a real possibility this could happen. Ecto-Con would be a convention within a big (Apple) convention.

Big Apple Con is shooting to hold Ecto-Con sometime in November. Big Apple Con and Dimitrios are guaging interest in how many people would go to an all GB Con. Please take a moment to visit the site and vote.

Ghostbusters International® fully supports a Ghostbusters convention and would love to be in attendance.

ghostbustersinternational.com Is Tops

Ghostbusters™: The Video Game has been updated with news and new content. A new animation involving Slimer, NYC, and the firehouse. A clipboard with the first of multiple interviews. If you get all 21 questions correct, congratulations. You’re more a fan than I. :p Their is also new downloadable content and maybe the best feature, “Top 5 Fan Sites.” While Ghostbusters International® isn’t a fan site (we can understand the misunderstanding) we’re one of Sierra’s Top 5 Fan Sites. Thank you for the acknowledgment. If their is anything else we can do, please let us know. Congratulations to Proton Charging, GB Fans, and the other sites listed.
