Site News: Ghostbusters Training Manual (Finished)

It was finished yesterday, by the time we could have put The Official Ghostbusters™ Training Manual: A Guide To Catching Ghosts on-line, it was time for bed. Hopefully all the hard work and no extra pay will er pay off. More about the training manual and our work on it can be found on its pages.

Site News: Ghostbusters Training Manual (Update)

This past Wednesday and Thursday I was able to hook up my 6 1/2-7 year old scanner (which might have been possessed) and after lots of trial and error (and a lot of noises it made) I got the entire book scanned.

Their is still one problem. Its most likely from how old my scanner is and how long it hadn’t been used. Their is something wrong with it and produced some kind of “streaking” in the lesson pictures that are in the book.

Not to worry though. I can get screen caps from Ghostbusters. In the meantime using Photo Shop® I cleaned up the aged booklet and made it like new. Plus adding one of GBI’s logos in it towards the end. What’s the point of giving it out if no one knows how they can register there franchise?

I’ll get the screen caps when I’m able to and put O.G.T.M on the site not long after.

Merchandise News: Ghostbusters Score

Ghostbusters International® learned from one of our news sites, Proton Charging that Varese Sarabande still has copies (as of May 22, 2006) of our original score. Their had been a rumor that Varese had been sold out for months. Far be it for us to actually check that out. According to Chris, webmaster of protoncharging.com and Varese Sarabande, their were less then 500 copies left.

Unfortunately Ghostbusters International® learned as of today that Varese Sarabande is sold out. Here’s hoping as we said in a past update that they’ll do a second run.

Site News: Ghostbusters Training Manual

It began as a tie-in to Ghostbusters. A little book most likely meant for children. Or for an older fan (circa 1984) a nice piece of Ghostbusters merchandise which would become a collectible. The book we’re talking about, The Official Ghostbusters™ Training Manual: A Guide To Catching Ghosts. Little did Dr. Venkman realize that this book would continue to inspire young people as they grew up wanting to be ghostbusters. Or adults thinking of changing careers without having to go to ITT Technical Institute. Sure today Ghostbusters International® has extensive tech manuals and training manuals on the fine art of ‘busting. What we haven’t had to sell or give out in over two decades is one of the greatest promotional materials for starting a franchise ever. Until now, sorta.

Last week we dug through the archives and found a rare copy of O.G.T.M, complete with a sheet of stickers which is still sealed. What does this mean? For our company, our franchises, field agents, and potential franchises you’ll be able to see this rare piece of movie franchise history/promotional materials on our site. Once we’re able to scan the covers, sheet of stickers, and the rest of O.G.T.M that is. We’re hoping while enjoying this book it may inspire as it has had for years.

Franchise News: Ghostbusters: Virginia (Richmond)

Ghostbusters International® has always had a rich franchise history in Virginia almost since the beginnings of our company. Over a decade later, Dan Harshman and his staff would establish Ghostbusters: VA, HQ in Eastern VA. Where they have had jurisdiction over the entire state. A tall order for any franchise. Fortunately for Dan and his staff, our clients, near by out of state franchises, and our company, a second franchise has emerged in The Commonwealth of Virginia.

Dr. Steven Reeves, CEO of Ghostbusters VA (Richmond area) and his staff are ready to handle our clients supernatural needs. What’s more, like previous franchises before them, they’re making a movie based on one of their case files!

Forum News: New Areas

Ghostbusters International® was probably going to set up an Extreme Ghostbusters forum on our message board at some point. With the cat out of the bag (its just an expression) that we’re working to eventually put up episodes from EGB on our site, (see our The Real Ghostbusters forum for small talk about that) we went ahead and set up the Extreme Ghostbusters forum much sooner.

In other forum news, earlier this month we expanded our Franchise Gathering forum. Over the year (and beyond) Ghostbusters International® has grown. It seemed to make sense to have 3 separate forums for the different types of gatherings GBI and our franchises attend and are involved with. Franchise Gatherings is now a category after Headquarters. Under it are three new forums: Events, Conventions, and Screenings.

Site News: Slimes Squares™ In Progress

No, negative vibes aren’t helping to turn Times Square into a big slimey part of Midtown. Slimes Square™ has been for years, Ghostbusters International® store. Which could only be visited when one was inside Ghostbusters International® Corporate HQ. Or select kiosks at malls throughout NYC. And the one or two impossible malls to get to over in Jersey. While its a no brainer, GBI never did put Slimes Square™ on-line. Just a small separate on-line store through Cafe Press. Which we haven’t promoted uh since like December. This will open up a sales market worldwide and might help GBI to be able to do more for this site and our franchises.

Two days ago our web team began work for the layout of Slimes Square™ (this is a rough layout). Its a long way from complete and we don’t have a definite time frame for the store’s grand opening. We appreciate your patience and while we’re all waiting, you can offer your ideas and suggestions as to what you might want to see in Slimes Square™.

Event News Recap: New Star Con

Ghosthead and “field agent,” Robert Knippels emailed us over the weekend with a recap from New Star Con.

Just wanted to tell you that I had a great day at the convention. I was in my ghostbusters uniform and I won the first prize. The good news is that I’ve heard that they will try to get some actors from Ghostbusters at the next convention. A lot of people wanted to have a picture with me and they acted like I was a movie star. In one word, it was great!

Ghostbusters International® sends our congratulations to Mr. Knippels on winning first place or the first prize. Maybe one of these days we should enter some contests. Hmm. If we get more information about anyone who was involved in Ghostbusters attending New Star Con or other events/conventions, we’ll post it here. Robert also took pictures and may be sending them to us. Or posting them over at our forums.

Site News: The Real Ghostbusters - Janine’s Genie

Janine, feeling like her duties as a receptionist have become somewhat boring as of late asks The Real Ghostbusters ever so nicely if she can go on a call with them. However, she’ll quickly realize their’s a lot to learn about being a real ghostbuster. Such as not accepting genie lamps as part of the payment. What’s worse, her first day on the job and Janine picked the one lamp which holds the opening from one spirit realm to our world. Can Janine wish she never accepted the lamp? And what will Janine’s Genie have to say about that?
